Sea You at Dinner, a series.
Sea You at Dinner is a painting series that celebrates the small stories and quiet moments around the dinner table. Inspired by summers spent in Zeeland, it captures the lingering conversations, the traces of meals, and the little details that tell a story long after the last bite. Plates, glasses, crumbs, and scattered utensils become storytellers themselves, filled with humour, warmth, and nostalgia. The series invites you to recognise moments from your own evenings. The laughter, the chatter, and the gentle calm after a shared meal.
The series will be exhibited at De Koperen Tuin from October 31 to January 12.

Shell we Dine?

Sunlight passes through a glass, casting warm, transparent reflections across the tabletop, highlighting crumbs, shells, and the subtle textures of everyday objects. The painting uses soft, summery tones. Sandy beiges, gentle blues, and muted yellows. Evoking the warmth of Zeeland evenings and the calm, lingering light of the coast. Spill the Juice
‘Spill the Juice’ captures the lively atmosphere of an evening shared with friends. Two martinis — a dirty and a dry — sit side by side on a table that has just been the center of animated conversation. The title playfully nods to both the cocktails and the stories that flow as freely as the drinks.
The painting plays beautifully with light: reflections in the glasses cast soft shadows across the tabletop, while the colors of the drinks emit a warm, inviting glow. These light and color details enhance the intimate and convivial mood of the scene.

Open Up to Me
‘Open Up to Me’ presents oysters fresh from the sea, resting on melting ice, with lemon slices ready and glasses catching the soft midday light. The table invites a moment of pause — to slow down, savour each taste, and enjoy the subtle rhythm of a shared meal. A knife lies ready, hinting at the next secret about to be revealed, the next conversation waiting to unfold.
The title Open Up to Me carries a playful double meaning. On one level, it refers to the oysters on the table, literally being “opened” to be tasted. On another level, it evokes the intimate, conversational atmosphere of the scene. An invitation for guests to share secrets, stories, and personal moments. The title perfectly reflects the series’ focus on tables as storytellers, where both food and conversation reveal hidden layers.

Half Yours, Half Mine
‘Half Yours, Half Mine’ captures a quiet, thoughtful moment through a simple yet symbolic scene. A pomegranate, split in two, lies open on the table. Each half mirrors the other, yet neither feels whole on its own. The image becomes a metaphor for connection, like a conversation shared over dinner where two voices and two perspectives come together to form something complete.
This small painting reflects the essence of the Sea You at Dinner series: the beauty of shared moments, the intimacy of food and talk, and the gentle poetry hidden in everyday scenes. It reminds us that what we share, whether a story, a meal or a moment, always carries a trace of both sides.

Bitter Sweet
‘Bitter Sweet’ captures the bold, unapologetic character of a Negroni — a drink that rarely stays silent. With its deep amber tones and glimmering reflections, it doesn’t just sit quietly on the table; it seems to lean forward, ready to spark conversation, laughter, and maybe a little disagreement too.
This painting, part of the Sea You at Dinner series, celebrates those lively moments that happen when people gather — when stories spill, voices overlap, and personalities come alive. The Negroni becomes both a symbol and a participant, embodying the mix of bitterness and sweetness that defines honest connection.
